REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION LEVEL:
High School Diploma
EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
Minimum of 24 months of building construction experience required, or two of the following: 1) Minimum of 12 months of on-the-job commercial or related building construction experience (other than construction work on personal residence); 2) Successful completion of five credit hours of vocational construction or horticulture courses, or successful completion of two courses sponsored by Operational Services; 3) Successful completion of two plant maintenance-facility and grounds courses sponsored by Operational Services (these two additional Operational Services courses will be required if the Operational Services courses option is used in above).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Good physical health including ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places and work at those places. Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, pushing standing, stooping, and walking. Occasional climbing, crawling, crouching, and reaching.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to pass written and hands-on job knowledge/job skill tests administered by Operational Services. Advanced boiler training and experience with boilers required. License for herbicide and pesticide application. Certified in asbestos removal when required. Ability to work unsupervised. Current State Vehicle operator's license: ability to operate all vehicles in the district fleet safely; insurable. Good attendance. Ability to communicate and follow written and oral direction. Ability to demonstrate recognition of equipment malfunction. Demonstrated positive attitude towards people with whom one works, ability to work cooperatively and willingness to accept instructions and training. Subject to call beyond the regular workday and week when situations arise which require immediate attention
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Performs building repair and preventive maintenance at all District facilities in areas, such as roof replacement and repair; glass replacement; masonry repair; interior and exterior finishes; and doors, windows, and hardware; and playground equipment.
- Repairs equipment and furnishings at all District facilities, such as inspection and repair of gymnasium equipment; repair of window shades, blinds and stage curtains; furniture repair and refinishing.
- Performs site maintenance and repair work at all District facilities, such as snow removal, including operating truck-mounted snowplows and sanding equipment; concrete and asphalt repair; operating equipment to clean playgrounds and parking lots; flagpole/rope repair, lawn care and tree maintenance.
- Performs remodel and construction work at all District facilities, such as new or replacement walls, floors, and ceilings; installing sheetrock and paneling; plastering and painting; construct and/or install corkboards and bulletin boards; construct and/or install furniture, such as shelves, cabinets, counters, and equipment; install playground equipment and fences.
- Provides miscellaneous maintenance services at all District facilities, such as replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes where scaffold is needed; remove graffiti from surfaces; deliver and/or move supplies, materials, furniture, and equipment.
- Responds to facility emergencies when needed.
- Maintains assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment. Makes recommendations for supplies and equipment to manager.
- Works a revised schedule during emergency periods and substitutes for other Operational Services staff when necessary.
- Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day, and weekend activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

PAY INFORMATION
Level LX, Starting at $26.43 per hour
2026-2027 Custodial & Maintenance Salary Schedule
Pay day is the last working day of each month.
HOURS & FTE
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid break
1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 12 months
