REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL:

Two years of post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota, for designated Education Support Professional positions.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

Previous agricultural experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for the safe operation of equipment and specialized facilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires frequent hand-eye coordination, hearing, speaking, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and use of the hands to perform assigned duties. Frequent carrying, lifting, grasping, pulling, and other routine physical activities are required, along with the ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments. Occasional stooping, crouching, and repetitive motions may be required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Demonstrated reliability and willingness to learn. Ability to work effectively with students and contribute to a positive learning environment. Interest in agriculture, agricultural education, or related fields preferred. Ability to follow directions, work independently, and collaborate with staff and students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

The Agriculture Education Support Professional assists with the daily operation and maintenance of the CTE Academy's agricultural education facilities and programs. Under the direction of the Agriculture Education Instructor, this position supports hands-on learning experiences by helping maintain the greenhouse, barn, livestock, farm equipment, and outdoor learning areas and learning opportunities for students in the Ag Department. This is a three-year grant-funded position.

  1. Assist with the daily care and feeding of animals.
  2. Maintain the greenhouse, school grounds, and agricultural facilities.
  3. Operate and perform basic maintenance on agricultural equipment following appropriate training.
  4. Prepare instructional materials, laboratory spaces, and equipment for agricultural classes and activities.
  5. Ensure a safe, clean, and organized learning environment for students and staff.
  6. Support and supervise students during agricultural activities, projects, and hands-on learning experiences.
  7. Assist with the setup, cleanup, and organization of agricultural labs and projects.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

PAY INFORMATION

Starting at $18.42 per hour

Pay Day: Last working day of each month, based on the payroll cutoff schedule.

HOURS & FTE

Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch

0.875 FTE, 35 hours per week, 9 months
